The Iberian Imperial Eagle (Aquila adalberti) is endemic to the Iberian Peninsula, one of the most threatened birds of prey in Europe and is among the rarest birds in the world.
This large eagle can reach a wingspan of 2,10m, measure 80cm in length and weigh between 3.5 and 5kg, with the females being slightly larger than the males.
It has a strong beak and extremely strong and sharp claws, and distinct plumages throughout its first years of life. Adults can be identified by their dark brown, almost black colouration with a white edge delineating the wings from the shoulders, and by the grey tail with a terminal black band.
